Once again, walking a dark alley by herself. Taking the long way home through unfamiliar territory. She looks innocently up at the dark sky. How late was it?

“It’s a bit late for you to be out here all by your lonesome,” a deep scratchy voice called out behind the streetlamp. “you looking for something?”

She stood still, eyes wide with surprise.

He stepped forward showing his all-black rough clothes, broad-shoulders with one hand in his pocket. Approaching close enough so they could faintly see each other under the dim orange streetlight.

“Well, I found you now, how about we walk together a bit.” He smelled of cigars, a chemical sweetness and a stink that only comes after several days of unwash. He put a hand in the arch of her spine and gave a gentle push. He was a clear 6 inches taller than her.

They walked for a little while quietly. Her mind was focused on paying attention to his movements and looking around for others.

They passed into a dark space where all the lights were too far away to see clearly. She gasped in realization.

His hand was around her neck in a flash and pushed her down into the bushes.
